SerpApi is now a member of the i2Coalition, and we've earned the Ethical Web Data Collection Initiative (EWDCI) trust seal.

This is not the kind of news that changes how our API works. What it changes is that we now hold ourselves, publicly, to a set of rules written by the industry for the industry.

**Why public standards**

Web data collection gets described carelessly. Sometimes by journalists, sometimes by lawmakers, and sometimes by the very companies that built their business on crawling the web.

The result is that "scraping" can mean anything, from reading a public search results page to breaking into an account. Those are not the same thing, and they shouldn't be treated the same way.

The best answer I know to that confusion is not a marketing page. It's a set of clear, public standards that anyone can read, and that companies agree to be held to.

**What the EWDCI is**

The[ i2Coalition](https://i2coalition.com/) is an association of internet infrastructure companies. The EWDCI is its working group for companies in web data aggregation, what most people call web scraping. Its goal is to set standards for responsible conduct in that space.

The trust seal means we've committed to those principles and agreed to be measured against them. Not by ourselves, but by a group that includes some of the companies we compete with.

That's the point.

Why it matters to us

One of SerpApi's core values is full transparency and painful honesty, both internal and external.

We believe a more open internet is a better one. But openness only holds if the people collecting public data follow rules that anyone can read and check.

Public web data is critical infrastructure. Search engines, academic research, price comparison, SEO tools and AI products all depend on it, often without their users ever thinking about it. That work deserves guidelines that build trust instead of suspicion.

We want to help shape them.

SerpApi has always believed that public information should stay public. Joining the EWDCI is how we put that belief in writing, next to others who share it.

## **SerpApi Joins The Internet Infrastructure Coalition & Earns Ethical Web Data Collection Initiative Trust Seal**

\[AUSTIN, Texas, – November 5, 2026\] — SerpApi has joined the Internet Infrastructure Coalition (i2Coalition) and earned the Ethical Web Data Collection Initiative (EWDCI) Trust Seal.

i2Coalition brings together companies that build and operate internet infrastructure to support policies that protect an open, secure, and resilient internet. SerpApi and its leadership team share that commitment.

SerpApi earned the EWDCI Trust Seal after a formal submission and review of its practices around transparency, data handling, privacy safeguards, and accountability. EWDCI is an i2Coalition program that brings together web data collectors to strengthen public trust, promote ethical guidelines, and help businesses make informed decisions about data aggregation. Its Trust Seal recognizes companies that follow those guidelines.

Web data collection has become critical infrastructure for LLMs, AI agents, research and innovation, giving them real-time, structured access to publicly available information. The industry is still relatively young, and EWDCI brings together companies in the field to set ethical standards for how that work is done.

“Transparency is a core value at SerpApi,” said Julien Khaleghy, founder and CEO of SerpApi. “We believe a more open world is a better one and that transparency leads to integrity. That’s why we’re especially excited to be part of i2Coalition and earn the Ethical Web Data Collection Initiative Trust Seal. We want to help champion ethical guidelines and build public trust among data collectors, because this work is critical infrastructure for technology and innovation.”

“Web data collection supports research, competition, and innovation, but that work comes with responsibilities,” said Christian Dawson, Executive Director of the i2Coalition. “The EWDCI Trust Seal gives companies a way to demonstrate their commitment to responsible practices. We’re glad to welcome SerpApi and look forward to working with their team to strengthen those practices and help policymakers understand this industry.”

EWDCI’s Trust Seal reflects SerpApi's broader focus on security, privacy and transparency. The company maintains SOC 2 Type II, SOC 3, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 credentials, alongside policies and controls designed around responsible data handling.

Through i2Coalition and EWDCI, SerpApi will contribute to industry discussions around responsible web data collection and help inform policymakers as questions about access to public web data become increasingly important to AI, research and digital innovation.
